I like this video because of the broad spectrum of different special effects and characters. The imagination that’s behind this is mind-boggling. I especially like this because it isn’t dark and creepy (the dark & creepy gets pretty old). I’d like to find a nitch for some uplifting creations using AE.

Corny acting, but awesome special effects – I especially like the effects used when the crystal ball is smashed.

I liked this one because it demonstrates how powerful just simple typography can be when AE is applied with some great creativity. Obviously the special effects are limited here, but it does showcase the use of text in AE.

This video seemed to be patched together in kind of a strange way with the image of the vehicle going from a drawing on a piece of paper to outer space then back to earth. It plummets through a layer of clouds and explodes, and then something that appears to be a rock or meteorite appears and another vehicle. There were some random graphics, and music, and then the original vehicle appears again and screeches off. it was choppy, and I just didn’t get it. However, aesthetically, I liked much of the imagery. The smoking tires and the jet stream produced by the vehicle being propelled through outer space and the backdrop of mountains and the sky looked believable. The stars in the background moving from right to left really gave the effect of speed and motion. The explosion had a three dimensional look to it and was very cool looking. The video was short in duration and very energetic, so I could watch it several times without getting bored.

A very cool 45 second promotional video with awesome effects. It opens up above a layer of clouds with a bright sun shinning and instantly takes the viewer for a thrill ride through the clouds and down to earth amongst raindrops to a brilliant night time city scape. A close up of a human eye in which you can see the pupil dilate, and the very effect use of light and darkness to highlight raindrops falling toward the camera lens. Imagery of water, bubbles, light, and fire, effectively draw the viewer in with a sense of mystery, and then…the message: 12 e FESTIVAL POLAR DANSLA VILLE

This appeared to be a pretty low budget and somewhat amateur production, but the effects made an otherwise mundane short film pretty interesting. I tend to have a pretty short attention span when it comes to watching videos on YouTube. Six minutes can be an eternity, but in the case of this video, I enjoyed watching the special effects, and I found myself hanging in for the whole six minutes to see what was coming next. I thought the producers of this video did a great job of making a typical karate themed short film interesting using Adobe After Effects.

Here’s a good collection of Adobe After Effects. I like that the guy who posted this montage in 2008 now has a link that better represents his “skill level.” I don’t think K1054 has anything to be ashamed about, everyone’s gotta start somewhere, I’m impressed.

Here’s a fun tutorial for using the shattering effect. We may not be able to get the kind of shattering seen in the demoncam.com video, but there’s a lot of things this could be used for!
